No Slaves in Kansas

No Slaves in Kansas features reproduction fabrics in an historically important block named Kansas Troubles referring to the struggle to determine the free state status or slave state status of Kansas in the 1850s. Paula chose to use the barn raising setting and to feature a chintz pillar print in the border. This pillar print is a reproduction fabric designed by Brackman and Thompson who are also Kansas historians. The occassional appearance of bright cheddar color adds interest to the palette. Brackman and Thompson use their collection of antique fabric to design historically accurate reproduction fabrics for Moda. See the shopping section for all their collections.

All of the quilts displayed on this page were designed and made by Paula Mariedaughter. In our logo area to the left is Anonymous Was A Woman and to the right is Crossroads 1879 to 2003. Virginia Reel Fabric Collage is in the lower right area of the page.
